U. Bertram (Bert) Ellis, Jr. Chairman of Vivex
Bert Ellis is a serial entrepreneur and investor having founded and operated numerous companies, both private and public.

Ellis serves as the CEO and Chairman of Ellis Capital, a consulting and investment firm primarily focused on the media, technology, healthcare, and fintech industries. Ellis primarily manages acquisitions, strategic relationships, and fund raising for his companies but has also been integrally involved in sales, operations, and strategic planning. He has managed multiple high growth companies and achieved significant returns for his investors.

Ellis previously founded and served as CEO of Act III Broadcasting, Ellis Communications, and iXL. He was a founding investor and Board member of WebMD.  He co-founded and currently serves as President of Titan Broadcasting.

Ellis holds an MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at UVA and a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia.

Tracy S. Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer
Tracy S. Anderson has established an impressive career in the medical market by integrating his expertise as a skilled surgical technician with his corporate experience. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Anderson began working in the medical industry as a Cardiopulmonary Systems Specialist with Baxter Healthcare. After Baxter, he helped develop two intraocular lens companies, Ioptex, Inc. and Chiron, from the ground up. In 2002, Mr. Anderson founded Atlanta based T2MED, Inc., one of the Southeast’s most innovative private companies in the growing spinal device market. In 2008, Anderson merged T2 into Amendia, Inc., as one of its founding partners. With Anderson as the President of its Sales and Marketing group, Amendia grew to over $85 MM in sales before being acquired by private equity for $190 MM. In December of 2012, Anderson licensed a unique stem cell lineage from the University of Miami for potential use in general orthopaedics. In March of 2013, Vivex Biomedical was spun out from Amendia as a freestanding entity. In November of 2013, Anderson was instrumental in the acquisition of the University of Miami Tissue Bank, the oldest and one of the most prestigious human tissue facilities in the world. UMTB immediately became a fully owned subsidiary of Vivex Biomedical, Inc.

Throughout his career, Mr. Anderson has partnered with some of the medical industry’s top experts in the areas of general orthopaedics, spine surgery, sports medicine, cardiovascular surgery, ophthalmic surgery, and oncology. He is a member of the Vivex Board of Directors and Chair of its Board of Governors. He is also a member of several other professional organizations and advisory boards including the Advisory Committee for Surgical Technology at Gwinnett Tech in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Lou Barnes, B.S.Ed., MBA, CTBS, President and Chief Operating Officer
Lou Barnes is a twenty-six year veteran of the tissue banking industry, having most recently served as Executive Director of DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank, Inc. in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to DCI, Mr. Barnes worked with other leading tissue banks, both in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Mr. Barnes is the current Chair Elect of American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and a member of AATB’s Board of Governors. Mr. Barnes holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and graduate degree from the University of Alabama as well as designation of Certified Tissue Bank Specialist.

Timothy Ganey, Chief Scientific Officer
Tim Ganey is Director of Orthopedic Research and Technology Development at the Atlanta Medical Center. He is also the recent President of co.don Tissue Engineering, a subsidiary of co.don AG. He has been published extensively in peer review journals and a lecturer at a variety of scientific meetings both domestically and overseas. Tim holds a B.S./B.A. degree at the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. degree at the University of South Florida. He is a member of eleven professional societies including the Orthopedic Research Society and the American Association for the Advancement of the Sciences. He has also been honored by various professional and business organizations, most recently as the 2000 winner of the Outstanding Research Award, Sofamor-Danek Award, Australian Spine Society. Further Tim is an Editorial Reviewer for industry publications including BioDrugs, Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, Tissue Engineering, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Tim and his wife have four children and reside in Atlanta, Georgia. He is active in civic affairs including Paint Your Heart Out, Tampa and the Gulf Coast Life Science Initiative.

Holly Mason, Vice President of Marketing
A native of Georgia, Ms. Mason earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City where she worked with the New Business Development Team at Univision. During this time, she was a valued team member, assisting with targeting and building relationships with new clients. With a passion for healthcare and a desire to use her background in science, Ms. Mason took a position with Berlex Laboratories, a subsidiary of Schering AG Germany. A quick learner, and poised to succeed, she was quickly promoted to Senior Sales Consultant. She was appointed District Trainer and was a consistent top sales performer due to her ability to assimilate and communicate relevant clinical data. Ms. Mason has a proven record of accomplishment in building and maintaining solid relationships. After returning home to Georgia, she joined Amendia, where she served as the Director of Marketing and Education for 3 years before being promoted to Vice President of Marketing. She joined Vivex at its inception and works closely with Mr. Anderson to build the brand that is Vivex.

Barry Salzman, Vice Chairman
Mr. Salzman joined our Board of Directors in January 2015. Mr. Salzman is currently a Managing Director for Compass Partners LLC, a merchant banking and financial advisory firm that specializes in middle market companies and corporate restructuring. Mr. Salzman joined Compass Partners LLC in July 2007, the same time at which he became a Board Member and Principal owner of BP Gamma Medical Supply Company. Prior to July 2007, Mr. Salzman served as Board Chairman, President and Principal owner of Becker-Parkin Dental Supply Company. After 20 years at Becker-Parkin, Mr. Salzman sold the company to Henry Schein Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC). From 2008 – 2012, Mr. Salzman served as President of Surgery Works LLC., which was formed by Compass Partners LLC to provide financial management services for Ambulatory Surgery Centers. In 2012 the centers sold a controlling interest to Amsurg (NASDAQ: AMSG). Mr. Salzman has maintained board seats at former Surgery Works, LLC centers and continues to work in a consulting and advisory role to Amsurg. In 2014, Mr. Salzman founded and became President of Practice Management Works LLC and in 2016 he also accepted a board seat at Checkpoint Therapeutics Inc ( CKPT) , an immune -oncology biopharmaceutical company. Mr. Salzman is a 1987 graduate of Brooklyn Law School and is a member in good standing of the New York Bar Association.

Reinaldo (Rey) Pascual, General Counsel of Vivex
Rey Pascual is the founder of Pascual LLC, a specialty corporate law firm providing high level strategic advice and general counsel services to a select group of clients.

Prior to founding Pascual LLC, Pascual practiced for 30 years at three of Atlanta’s and the country’s best law firms, most recently as a ten-year partner of Paul Hastings LLP, where he chaired the Atlanta corporate group and served as Atlanta managing partner. In his career, Pascual has represented numerous clients from inception to IPOs and billion dollar exit transactions, and has led hundreds of private and public investment and merger and acquisition transactions.

Pascual has been recognized numerous times as a “Super Lawyer,” “Best Lawyer in America,” “Leading Corporate Lawyer” and “Who’s Who” in the Atlanta Legal Community. Pascual is also a successful investor having been an early investor in many successful companies. Among other activities, Pascual is currently Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Syracuse University and serves on the university’s Executive Committee.

Pascual holds an A.B., cum laude, from Syracuse University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Creighton University.
