Interventional Pain Therapies

Our Interventional Pain Therapies focus on technologies for the treatment of chronic pain, which is the leading cause of disability worldwide.

Discogenic low back pain may be caused by Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD), which is a chronic and progressive degenerative condition that begins in the nucleus pulposus, the internal part of a human intervertebral disc. Patients with degenerated discs lose hydration, mechanical competence, and load absorption, which leads to decreased disc height and loss of nutrient content.

As these structural and functional changes in the degenerated disc strain the nerves, it can put focal pressure on the spine and ultimately cause lower back pain. Today, there is a significant gap in treatment options for patients who are refractory to conservative care. The treatment continuum spans from continuation of conservative care, opioid analgesics, epidural injections and/or nerve blocks and when non-surgical options fail, surgical intervention is the last resort. Surgical interventions include lumbar fusion or disc replacement. Physicians have limited intermediate options after conservative care fails and are seeking non-surgical options with proven durability and safety.

VIA Disc™ NP is a non-surgical treatment option for supplementing degenerated intervertebral discs and consists of allogeneic nucleus pulposus matrix delivered into the center of the degenerated intervertebral disc in a convenient and safe outpatient setting. LEARN MORE
